FLOWERS PAINTINGS

These works are an ongoing series of works showing anonymous floral tributes. Removed from their identifying landscape and referencing memento mori, vanitas painting, floriography and still life tradition, these paintings are quiet contemporary reflections on loss, memorial and love. 

Each single painting refers to a single event and speaks to the transience of life, and the quiet acts of pilgrimage that the placing of each memorial in the redacted landscape took. The act of painting the flowers which fade, makes these memorials permanent.
